Contrary to what some people think…

I’m not anti-Botox.

I’ve had Botox.
Many of my clients have Botox.
And I don’t believe facial wellness and aesthetics have to sit on opposite sides.

I just don’t believe every concern needs to end with an appointment.

Sometimes we want to soften tension.

And that’s where face yoga, Gua Sha, cupping and taping found a place in my life.

If you clench your jaw, grind your teeth, or carry tension through this area, it can be a lovely addition to your routine.

The middle photo was my skin in April 2024.

At the time, I thought I was doing everything “right”.

✨ Skin + Me.
✨ Expensive creams.
✨ Every acid under the sun.
✨ All the must-have ingredients.

Meanwhile, my skin was getting angrier.

Red patches around my nose.
Spots around my mouth and neck.
Nothing seemed to calm it down.

Then, while making changes in other areas of my life, I stumbled across castor oil.

Not because I thought it was magic.

I’d already spent a fortune and thought, what’s the worst that can happen?

Over time, I stopped trying to constantly “fix” my skin and started focusing on nourishment instead.

That was around the same time I discovered Face Yoga, and the rest is history.

Two years later, I still keep things simple.

SPF every day.
A few actives that my skin enjoys.
Face oil always.

Everything else is just an extra.

This is simply my skin story. What works for me might not work for you, because skin is personal.

Yesterday’s Gua Sha workshop at @restorationyard

A morning spent exploring facial tension and release, learning sculpting techniques, discovering ways to support a more lifted appearance, and finding a little calm in the middle of busy lives.

“I could never do that”

I hear that a lot.

And I get it.

Putting yourself out there, doing something different, even something as simple as face yoga…
can feel uncomfortable at first.

But the truth is
most people aren’t watching as closely as you think

and the ones who are?
they’re usually wishing they had the confidence to start too

so now I just do it

in the car, at home, wherever I am

because it makes me feel good

and I’m not holding myself back anymore

not in my face…
not in my life

I do Gua Sha regularly, but trying it inside the sauna felt like something completely different.

The heat softens everything.

The shoulders drop.
The jaw unclenches.
The face relaxes faster.
And the Gua Sha somehow feels even better.

One thing people kept saying after trying the sessions was how much the ritual changed the sauna experience for them.

Instead of simply sitting in the heat waiting to cool down, the guided ritual gave them something grounding to focus on. A slower rhythm. A different awareness of tension in the face, jaw, neck and shoulders.

These sessions aren’t about perfection or performance.

They’re slow.
Restorative.
Invigorating.
Refreshing.

We begin with gentle upper body release and breathwork before moving into guided Gua Sha rituals inside the sauna, with optional cold dips and cooling outdoor breaks in some of Scotland’s most beautiful locations.
